NCPI–InvestHK Open New Gateway for Indonesian Businesses to Expand Across Asia

The “Hong Kong Where Business Goes to Grow” forum in Badung highlights Hong Kong’s strategic role as a gateway to Mainland China, Asia and global markets.

BADUNG, BALI — The Indonesian Tourism Nawa Cita Association (NCPI) and Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK) have strengthened business ties between Indonesia and Hong Kong through the Hong Kong Where Business Goes to Grow forum held in Badung on Thursday (Aug. 11).

The event marked the fifth meeting between NCPI and InvestHK, focusing on introducing Indonesian business players to Hong Kong’s business ecosystem, investment opportunities and support services for companies seeking to establish offices or expand their operations internationally.

Chairman of the NCPI Central Executive Board, Dr. Gusti Kade Sutawa, SE., MM., MBA., said the recurring engagement reflects the organization’s commitment to building stronger business relations with Hong Kong.

“This is the fifth meeting between the NCPI Central Executive Board and Invest Hong Kong. The objective is to strengthen business relations with them,” Kade Sutawa said.

He explained that the forum currently serves as an educational platform for Indonesian entrepreneurs interested in establishing offices or developing business networks in Hong Kong.

“InvestHK is part of the Hong Kong Government. Therefore, there are many conveniences that businesses can obtain when doing business in Hong Kong through them. They will provide assistance,” he said.

The forum also generated interest among several businesspeople already connected to Bali. A South Korean entrepreneur with investments in Bali reportedly expressed interest in exploring business opportunities in Hong Kong.

A Balinese entrepreneur with Russian clients also showed interest in considering Hong Kong as a potential base for expanding business networks and investment activities.

Kade Sutawa said the opportunities were also being explored by NCPI executives and businesspeople who have the potential to establish networks in Hong Kong.

Deputy Head of Consumer and Hospitality at InvestHK, Angelica Leung, presented the advantages of Hong Kong as an international business and investment hub.

Investment opportunities are available across a range of sectors, including financial services, hospitality, human resources, food and retail.

Hong Kong’s strategic position as an international logistics, financial and commercial hub is considered an important advantage for companies seeking access to global markets and Mainland China.

InvestHK is the investment promotion department of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. It works to attract and retain foreign direct investment and supports international companies seeking to establish or expand their businesses in Hong Kong.

The agency provides free advice and assistance to companies throughout the business process, from initial planning and company establishment to launch and expansion.

Its support is available to overseas entrepreneurs, Mainland Chinese companies, small and medium-sized enterprises and multinational corporations seeking to establish or develop operations in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong’s role as an international financial centre and a strategic base for family offices was also highlighted during the forum. The city has developed an ecosystem aimed at supporting wealth management and family-office activities for ultra-high-net-worth individuals.

Meanwhile, InvestHK Assistant Manager of Business and Talent Attraction/Investment Promotion, Cosmas Oktavianus Santosa, said Hong Kong offers a distinctive environment for international investors because of its separate economic, legal and financial systems from Mainland China.

“Hong Kong is the right choice for investment because it has its own system separate from Mainland China, making it more flexible,” Cosmas said.

He said Hong Kong’s economic, legal and financial framework provides investors with flexibility in managing global investment instruments and developing international business networks.

Cosmas also pointed to the presence of major Chinese companies listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange as another factor strengthening the city’s role as a bridge between global capital and Asia’s economic growth.

“For that reason, we hope Indonesian companies can have confidence and certainty. Hong Kong remains stable, strengthens international relations, continues to serve as a base in Asia, and helps their businesses become stronger in the global market,” he said.

The forum was attended by Angelica Leung, Cosmas Oktavianus Santosa and representatives of the NCPI Central Executive Board.

Kade Sutawa was accompanied by NCPI Advisor Jero Gede Witama, who is also associated with Aman Resort Group, NCPI Bali Chairman Agus Maha Usadha, Ketut Ngastawa, Wayne from Korea, Ussyana Dethan and representatives of the Denpasar Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The fifth NCPI–InvestHK meeting is expected to further encourage Indonesian entrepreneurs, particularly those with international networks, to view Hong Kong not only as a business destination but also as a strategic platform for expanding across Asia and into global markets.
